How Long Does it Take to Get Dental Implants?
Dental implants have three steps. There is the implant placement, the abutment placement, and then the restoration placement. The implant placement happens first and can take up to 3 months before the next step is begun. This is because your mouth goes through a process called osseointegration, the process where the implant directly bonds with the surrounding bone tissue.
Once they are healed we will connect the abutment to the implant. The healing after that placement is much shorter, typically just a couple of weeks.
We then connect your custom crown or other restoration, right to the implants, making it a full tooth restoration!
While your implant is healing, we provide you with a temporary crown or bridge to help you keep smiling with confidence.
Bone Grafts for Implants
Dr. Cast and Dr. Lee are a team for more than just placing your implants. Our team of surgeons can also complete all aspects of your surgery. Dr Cast and Dr Lee (who is a Harvard trained periodontist) also perform bone grafts, sinus lifts and periodontal surgery. But what is a bone graft and how can it help?
During your implant consultation, we will use advanced scans called CBCT scans to analyze your jaw bone density. Jawbone density is essential to having implants be stable and permanent solutions. If you don’t have the correct jawbone density, we may recommend a bone graft.
A bone graft will take a couple of months of healing before we can place implants. Then you can have a permanent smile with implants! While you are healing we can offer you dentures or another cosmetic solution so you can smile with confidence.
